Side |
|
Side (pronounced See day) translates to mean
pomegranate. The symbol of the pomegranate
was displayed on all of the coinage used in
this area prior to Roman rule. As one of the
best know classical sites in Turkey, it
boasts a magnificent theatre of the ancient
city, the Agora and the Apollo Temple. There
is nothing more beautiful than the sun
setting behind the
Apollo Temple at the tip of the peninsula,
where Anthony and Cleopatra are rumored to
have shared their first kiss. The
archeological artifacts on display at the
museum, formerly a Roman bath, are amongst
the finest in Turkey. |
|
Take a short stroll into the centre of Side
and you will find yourself in a maze of
cobbles streets with an abundance of shops
selling an assortment of traditional Turkish
handicrafts. |
|
The location of Side is one of its greatest
assets as it is nearby to Alanya, Antalya
and Manavgat which means it couldn't be
easier to venture out and explore more of
this beautiful Turkish Riviera. |
